"Fight on, O Mighty Soldier! Bravely forward into the heat of war. Raise your sword to the shouts of "Charge!"

That is what they sing about you; the songs that immortalize men of great valor, but...what do they sing for the soldier that fights alone...? What about them that remain nameless to the world? What about the soldiers weary from the tediousness of battle and the battles of life? What song is sung for those lost in the tide of names that have no recognition of deeds- good or bad? Nothing but a shallow tune; derived of feelings and emotion. It is as bland as a calm sea, and as empty as a void of space...
Such a tone is fitting for thee....

What epic is told about the soldiers who shed tears, not only for the ones who fell at their side, but also for themselves not even appearing to be told, "Splendid performance?" Where are the maidens for the warriors that walked back, alone through the rain and the dark carrying only their weight and the messages of those that had family to return to triumphant, but...halted in their valiant march home? Tis it fitting for a crown to be casted aside and robbed of its jewels and worth; taken from those that drove the lines back from their homes and kin? NO!! What manner or citation is it that awaits the sojourner lost and abandoned by his hope and will?
Never will they shout and bow down to you...

What memory is there for the forgotten? What picture is there for the gray? What image is there for the sightless? Where are the sirens that sing harmonious songs and glorious tunes, yet hide their true motives underneath the snares of their voices? They sing, no doubt, but their perish songs only give way to marches to the tombs of the forgotten. The valiant are granted the finest, while the soldier of misfortune.....no glimpse of the fine. You cry....why? Because you have realized that it has been a long time that youhave3 been away from your home. You, to them, are a ghost; a name in the wind; a feint memory; a leaf lost on the sea...
Walk home....to what you have been deprived of...

Oh, how I mourn for thee....the ones that were laid away into early graves, empty and closed without bodies. No tears are shed because of the feelings that have been exempt from the funeral. Where are you? Walking home....which is on the horizon... You have done your work faithfully and true. Your worth to me is more than any other thing that can be offered me. I know you are tired....walk on a little further...songs are being sung in your honor. You have served and followed. Keep the faith and hope that lies within the remaining beats of your heart. Replenish the will that seeps through into the sweat of your brow and is secreted from toting the weight of the armor, and your body. Go, fight on! You've fought for no one, O Nameless Soldier; you've bled for nothing, O Valiant Warrior! I'm sorry for what you have endured, you who are forgotten...

"Go on into immortality,
You, whose name has been written....
Written to gain life eternal..."
I can see it all play in my mind...
it is saddening and tears rolled from the images.
Just think, a soldier left for dead, tired, weary, and searching for another like himself; holding up the same banner, but not finding a soul. He had a journey to take and a task at hand....

Just imagine, how all the other soldiers are welcomed and greeted by singing and merriment, but the one soldier tha n has to walk the battlefield and carry himself home that has been closed due to9 his absence....

A soldier that has been forgotten by all...and a ghost to others...

You can only imagine it......
I can only see it....
